IWSG Anthology Contest!

I’m sure many have seen it around as this is year three for the IWSG Anthology Contest. But maybe you’ve never thought of actually submitting. Why not? The worst that can happen is you don’t get picked. Is that really as bad as say getting hit by a bus? Which can you shrug off and move on from?

But what about the best that can happen? You could get picked, which can lead to a bunch of nice little things.

You can get more readers to know your name and if they like your entry, they may search you out.

You can get more visibility.

You can get a publishing credit.

You could get some royalties, which I now refer to as peasanties. Not that this should be the sole reason for doing it.

You can stretch your skill. Maybe you haven’t written a short story or in this year’s genre before. Guess what? Never hurts to try. It could open up yet another path.

You could also learn short stories, this year’s genre, and/or writing contests aren’t for you. This isn’t a bad thing because now you know. It beats wondering about it and the whole what if crap.

I’m sure there are more perks, but those are the ones that popped in. So if you are contemplating doing it or thinking about it or one of the many more excuses, shove such stuff aside and just do it. You never know what may occur.

Have you seen the IWSG Anthology Contest yet? Have you ever submitted in any past year’s? Are you going to submit this year?

Enjoy life, forget the strife.
